Now here's something uncommon...and unusual.
This is a Talking Sonic plush from & for China. However, he is interesting to see for several reasons. First off is the construction of the head is somewhat unusual as compared to other dolls (see the seams). Then, the tag is for 1991, but it is certain that this came later than that, because in that year nobody knew what the spikes were. (It was the flat flappy felt era) There are no white highlights to the eyes, but those are generally painted on and could have worn off over time & there'd be no way to tell. Next is the zipper for the talk-box / voice / battery aaaaaaaand Japan would never have released a doll leaving the zipper where it is. It's not a professional thing to do.
The tag is Segasonic, so, likely a re-used Japan tag of the era. He's not terrible at all, especially for the era, with distinct fingers, good big shoes & nice attention paid for all his spikes. They did get the ears a bit low, but they are stuffed & not cheap flat flaps.
The glove & sock cuff ride-up are caused by lack of tacking-stitch through those parts (or it wore out) You can see the talk button there in the palm of the hand. The zipper area is also visible in the inset-tag close up photos too.
*The most curious thing would be what would he possibly say? Sonic NEVER talked in any game up until Dreamcast. You can bet they didn't have Steven Q Urkle doing the voice for this thing in China, either. The concept of Sonic talking at all was an odd thing in the early 90s. You had him as a chipmunk on "King of the Ring", then the USA TV shows, and wierd voices in Japan. It's anybody's guess what this could have used.
With the hand in the photo, you can see that he was pretty big. But what does he say? It remains unknown because this particular one (it's a sale listing) does not work. You can write in if you know/have heard this doll!
